AB506- Our Counsel

Analyzing AB506, we conclude that it requires only what every church should already be doing. Namely this includes providing a background check on church members who volunteer with children under the age of 21, as well has having a written policy that is communicated with staff, leaders, and parents about how the church handles allegation of abuse.

If your church needs help with either of these important topics your association stands ready to help. Our office can process background checks for you as well as provide the forms that your people would need to fill out. We can give advice on crafting an official policy statement on how your church will respond to and handle allegations of abuse.

In the wake of the devastating abuse report regarding the SBC, this needs to be a top priority for your church. We want all of our churches to not only be in compliance with the law, we want every church to be safe place for families and their children.
